7 Minute frosting consists of egg whites, cream of tartar, vanilla, sugar and water. It is cooked over a double boiler and beaten until stiff peaks form- usually 7 minutes, hence the name! It is strange that I've never made 7 minute frosting, since I do a fair bit of baking. Thanks for the link for Paula Deen's recipe and the Alton Brown recipe.
