I enjoyed your family photos. The food looks so yummy. I really miss my Grandmother's perogies (hers were stuffed with a meat mixture). She was originally from Poland and was a fantastic cook. I also love keilbasa, especially fried with spices and sauerkraut.
The crepes are making my mouth water. Is it lunchtime yet? :=)
parTea Lady,
Thanks for the comments. My husband's family is Ukranian & Russian on his mother's side. So we have traditional foods that her family had for Easter holidays. They used to have Babka bread and a traditional apple & walnut nut cake too, but since Ken's mom stopped the holiday cookings those two items got left out.
We had the babka bread too - isn't it delicious? And the cake my grandmother made looked like a jelly roll and it was filled with a ground poppy seed, honey and nut mixture. I sure wish that I had learned to make all these things before she passed away.
Do you also enjoy borscht and cabbage rolls. Thanks for reminding me of all the great family dinners we had with my grandparents many years ago.
parTea lady,
I'm happy have obliged :-). We use to have borsht a lot when my mother in law was younger, and I loved it. I had never had it before meeting Ken, but there is only she now and she doesn't get that involved with cooking anymore. I would make it, but my husband does not like it. I do have her recipe though if you would like it. As far as the cabbage rolls, I grew up on those too, but they were a little different from Ken's family recipe where they use pork & beef. We grew up only using beef. How about you?
Mmmmmm!!! Such a lovely menu.
Yummo! So this is what Easter looks like at a professional caterer's house!
Well actually Angela, Thanksgiving, Christmas & Easter has always been a "dress-up" occasion for our family. Ken's mom always made a production of everything so of course I HAD to try to keep up with her. HA HA !!!! I'm happy that you liked it though.
